Shaw's Cove

Shaw's Cove in Laguna Beach at low tide has lots of little tide pools to explore. This also happens to be the place where we got married, so it was fun going back to visit again.

My mission was to find a starfish... and look at this pretty guy!

Shells, shells, everywhere!

And sea anenenemone... :)

And some creepy barnacled shells...

Sunday Funday

Ahh, California. Moscow mules and swimming pools in the middle of March. :)

A Quiet Afternoon

A quiet afternoon at our new temporary home... leads to grabbing a camera and snapping a few photos!

This is a photo of a photo... we finally got our wedding photos after a long wait. Thanks to the help of our mom/in-law, we finally got a chance to remember that wonderful weekend in August. :)

Zoe finally discovered that there are windows, and birds, in California. :)

The Bean

One of my very favorite places... the Bean. We took a quick little escape to Chicago a couple of weeks ago - Ikea, Millennium Park, a cold (frigid) walk down Michigan Avenue... a good time.

A Thousand Steps and A Whale!

We went to Laguna for a day at the beach earlier this week. The beach is called Thousand Steps because you feel like you are climbing a thousand (very steep) steps on your way down to the sand, and especially on your way back up at the end of the day. This was a beach we visited on our last day here back in August, just after getting married. It's strange and amazing to be back just over six months later and to now call this place home.

Best part of the day? We saw what we think was a whale. Something started spewing water off in the distance. I did the best to get photos with the camera/lens I had with me. We couldn't tell what exactly it was, but it was larger than a dolphin, for sure. Very cool. :)

Surf Sunday

We managed to be in California for a couple of days before going down to the beach. It rained the first couple of days we were here, which is epic to Californians. When the storms eased off, we visited the Huntington Pier to see some surfers taking on some BIG waves.
