Home Sweet Home

A few more photos of our little "home sweet home".

We are not completely finished putting everything in the appropriate place, things keep moving a little here and there. But we have furniture aplenty now! We still need to get some photos printed and framed for the walls, but home is definitely starting to look comfy cozy to us!

Pretty much everything in this new place is different. We sold most of our furniture to save money on the move out here. We've acquired a few new bits of furniture, all of which are entirely different that what we had before. No more brown couch with brown and dark colored pillows. No more brown curtains. Introduce grey couch with bright blue and green pillows. Crazy patterned black and white curtains. A bright colorful lamp. A yellow and a white side table. It's all different. Bright and colorful! :)

I've developed quite a love for little bird things. I saw this pillow, with a little bird and was so glad it blended well with the other pillows. Something about cute birds reminds me of my cousin Ashley, who left us a few years ago. It's a tad funny because real birds pretty much just creep me out.

The cutest little yellow table. And a tunnel playground for our beast.

Ah, the books. This is the first time that our books have all lived in the same room, mostly on the same shelf. The most surprising part is that they all fit. I did make a run to the BetterWorldBooks.com dropbox and donated a few... and a few are housed in the "dining nook". But mostly, this book case is the coziest little corner of our home. Especially since it has some cameras on it!

This little slice of wall seemed to need decoration. So we hung a bunch of photos. :)

Even the bedroom got a facelift. Our bedding was all in storage for a couple of months, so we kind of felt like a replacement might be healthy. The old bedroom was all white bedding - a fluffy white cloud. Now we have stripes and ORANGE!

Another little birdie, that sits with my Ashley girl statue. We got a new dresser, taller than the old one - so we can put little things on it without Zoe knocking them all off!

The fortune in the bottle says "Now is a good time for you to explore. Take a vacation."
Yes. Or explore and move to where you love to vacation, then everyday has a little bit of vacation in the air!

The remainder of my cameras, waiting for a place to live... currently, safe and sound in the box that ground them to California.

And our little beast... she got to go to her first California vet appointment this week. Time for more allergy medicine. Poor little Zoe.

But no worries, she is comfortable and is already ruling the roost in her new home. She has a full-fledged playground in the corner, and toys scattered all around. Our little St. Louis baby doesn't seem too upset about being in California anymore. She didn't particularly love the journey here, but she was better than most cats, especially considering three days in the car.

This picture is for my aunt. Yashi is safe on the new bookcase! :)

And now that I've shared all these little nooks of our new home, I'm going to go curl up with this book and call it a night. :)

A New Home

Here are just a few photos from our first few days in our new home. All of our "stuff" was in storage for two months, so it was kind of like Christmas with every box we opened. Putting our magnets and calendar on the fridge was a particularly happy moment.

When we signed our lease, the apartment office was running a special where we got to spin a wheel and win a prize. Our prize was a free painted "accent" wall. We picked a pretty bold color. :)

The kitchen. Ahh.

A view through the entryway's wall... palm trees!

A new piece of furniture... a cute little yellow table that goes perfectly with a little white daisy.

Ikea furniture brings home an entirely new kind of "craft night". So much building.

The wife works hard though. Eventually, this became a place to put some clothes. :)

The first morning in our new place. Kim worked all night, then helped with moving, then went back to work all night. Zoe was enjoying being home with her on this cozy day of napping.

This is not the same day. A different day, a different nap. On our new couch this time! :)

Zoe resting her head on a new pillow.

And just before I left town for work, we got a tiny watermelon to eat.
