RIP Neil Armstrong

Neil Armstrong is someone that I grew up admiring. I remember hearing about his adventures to the moon and being completely amazed. I had an ornament that hung on our Christmas tree for most of my childhood that showed Mr. Armstrong in his fancy spacesuit. Even cooler, if you pressed a button on the bottom, you got to hear his famous line... "that's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." I greatly admired him.

We were walking down the street today, and the headline popped up on my phone. I had to stop for a moment. Neil Armstrong passed away.

I was thinking throughout the day about the influence his small steps (giant leap) had on my life and I remembered our trip to Apollo Park in Titusville, Florida last year. The park was built to honor the many Apollo missions and astronauts, including Neil Armstrong. It was fun to put my hand in "his hand" and to just imagine the great things he got to experience in his life.

In memory of a great man...
I am, and ever will be, a white-socks, pocket-protector, nerdy engineer, born under the second law of thermodynamics, steeped in steam tables, in love with free-body diagrams, transformed by Laplace and propelled by compressible flow." - Neil Armstrong
