Independence Kansas

This film sat in my camera for way too long. When I finally got the developed negatives back, I realized that it was at least six months prior when I started the roll. Sometimes, when that happens, it's like a short-term time capsule for myself. :)

These photos are from a little trip I took with my family to Independence, Kansas for my cousin's wedding. My aunt and I decided to take a little walk around the "downtown" area. Along the way we stopped for a Cherry Phosphate at the Soda Fountain / Pharmacy!

Last of the Olympus 35RC

These are the last photos from my Olympus 35RC. The meter pooped out and I opted to sell it for some wedding money, rather than try to fix it. Here are a couple more photos from the Independence trip!

Antique Mall

On the way home from Independence, we stopped at this road side pile of stuff. Whoa.

Kansas Polaroid

I snapped and pulled a few Polaroids while in Kansas. A couple of them got smooshed, causing some damage (big white blobs), but I kind of still like them.

Big Meows

While at the safari zoo mentioned in yesterday's blog, we got to get super up close to some large cats. Lions, tigers, and white tigers. And honestly, white tigers are one of my very favorite animals so this was quite a fun experience.

Scrunchy nose!

Tongue tricks?

My what large paws you have...

He either wants to play... or eat...

Snack time.

This guy is the owner of this park, and these cats. He got them to stand up for their snacks to show us just how big they are. The comparison between the cats arm and the guys arm is striking. This guy was not small, and he was quite muscular. That cats arm is BIG. And standing only about 3 feet away makes this cat seem HUGE.

Rawr!

Tiger time... honestly, I was less than 2 feet away from his face. Fought the urge to rub his nose and lose some fingers... :)

Snack time!

"Oh that was tasty!"

BIG.

The lions!

Safari Time!

I went to Independence Kansas with my family for my cousin's wedding back in June. While we were waiting for the wedding, we decided to go visit this little "safari zoo". At first glance, we almost left. But whoa, was it worth it. We got up close and personal with some pretty cool animals.

The lemurs were up first. I want to hug one of these guys. They are rapid movers, with pretty (beady) eyes... and really, I just want to squeeze them!

This baby lemur came out of the cage to eat his banana snack... then cleaned up the fence when he was finished. Seriously, can I have him?

This is Betty the Big Black Bear. She was a lazy bum. Also, I would like to hug her. Minus her claws and fierceness.

She loved her cereal bits. :)

Now the monkeys. Honestly, not a fan of these guys. They are loud, smelly, and kind of scary. This one was begging us to come close so he could destroy us.

But this baby guy was cute. Just chilling... chewing his way to escape...

Now the big brown bear. This guy licked the safari leaders face, ate cookies out of his mouth, and was a super soft fellow. But look at those paws! Wouldn't want to upset this guy.

They had a few kangaroos, but one was the center of all the attention. She has a baby in her pouch. Hellooo little Joey!

She also would walk over to the edge of her pin and prop up on her tail to "rest"... strange little creatures.
