Laguna Main Beach

I've been taking a break from film photography for a few weeks (due to finances, adulthood, etc). It's hard, but it's forcing me to shoot more with my digital camera and learn how to appreciate that form of photography again. I honestly feel like working with film is a form of therapy for me, so the absence of it has been strangely difficult.

On this particular day, I opted for the therapeutic and took to Laguna with a film camera. I had my digital with me, and took a few, but not many photos. Here are the digitals. Films will follow at a later date.

I don't think I will ever tire of these trees...

This is a view from the south of the beach where we got married. Those bent palm trees out towards the end of the land are how we can find this beach from most of Laguna.

Palm trees and mountains... this landscape catches my attention every chance it gets.

Good Morning Photos

Sometimes I just need to take photos. A random subject presents itself, and a camera has to come play. This was one of those times.

An apple for breakfast.

My wife has a giant bruise on her leg from work. Ouch.

We had to go get some stuff out of our sunny California storage unit.

San Clemente & Dana Point

Time for a journey south! We attempted to skip the incredibly long lines at the DMV close to where we are living by heading south to a different DMV location. We were told this place would have smaller lines and less of a wait (desirable after our first three hour DMV visit). It was true... less of a wait... because this DMV was closed. Closed from January through May. Luckily, we packed all of the necessities for a day on the beach and just decided to take it as a chance to explore new beaches. It all worked out okay... we went to our local DMV a few days later, and while it took over an hour to do five minutes of paperwork, at least it wasn't multiple hours. :)

And this is how we came to San Clemente pier...

After the pier, we headed a bit north to some cliffs and explored the land overlooking the ocean.

Quite possibly one of the things I am most afraid of, and there are signs warning about them at all of the trails and hikes here. Yuck. I hope I never meet a rattlesnake.

We headed north on the coast again, and ended up near Dana Point. We started just looking at boats, then found a walkway down to the sand. That sand led to a rocky trail that took you to the outermost part of the point.

We couldn't climb all the way around the rocks because the tide was too high and the rocks ran right into the ocean, so we trekked back to the car and made our way a bit more north. We ended up near a place called The Strand. Surfers galore. But of course, my interest was held mostly by all of the tide pools around the beach. :)

A Neighborhood Walk

I'm giving you all a break from the beaches in this post. We were too tired for a beach trek, so we stayed in the neighborhood and took a walk. We found a tunnel, bunnies, lizards, and some green oranges. The view is pretty fantastic... mountains in the distance!

Zoe is 3

Our little Zoe turned three yesterday. This morning, she was being extra vocal about not being too old for snuggles. My wife obliged. :)

Her birthday toy. A brand new sparkle ball. Her favorite toy. :)
